Yesterday was an exciting day; as the clock struck midnight, our South Carolina Gamecocks won the College World Series. What an achievement for a team who was decidedly the underdog – no one thought they could do it, the team who came out of the loser’s bracket to win the whole thing. WOW! The final four teams included one from Texas, one from California, and TWO from our little state of South Carolina. Whether you are a Gamecock or Clemson fan, you should be proud of our state. Our schools may not be the best in the nation, our politicians leave a lot to be desired, but WE SURE CAN PLAY BASEBALL! And right after we found out about the World Series victory, the lights dimmed and the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, started. Sometimes being critical serves no purpose and this is one of those times. If you love the books, you’ll ignore the “ooohs” and “ahhhs” of the middle school crowd, overlook some of the more obvious flaws in the movie, roll your eyes and probably chuckle at some of the hokie dialogue, and then just sit back and enjoy it… and that’s just what I did… and today? Today I am pooped – I will sleep well tonight.
